### Does foam rolling actually shorten recovery time?
 It shortens the part of recovery you feel.  You can train it, but not at the same intensity. Light technique work, mobility, or a low-load session at well under your working weight is fine and often helps. Repeating a heavy session inside the window is how people accumulate fatigue faster than they clear it. If you want to train daily, split the work so different muscle groups are inside their own windows on different days.
